SUMMARY:Sculpture Creation
DESCRIPTION:Join Cotting School Visual Arts Teacher Bill Ironfield for a four-part series of classes to design and build a 3D sculpture together that will live on Cotting campus! The sculpture will be made out of materials like wood\, paper mache and industrial cardboard. All supplies will be provided\, and participants can expect to use all kinds of tools for art making and building\, such as hammers\, nails and paint. It will be a messy process–so dress accordingly–but a ton of fun! No experience required\, and you may choose to come to some or all four sessions in the series. \nAt this first session\, we will sit down as a group and draw up some sketches of what our sculpture could look like. We will try to incorporate the concepts of community\, inclusion and disability into our sculpture. In the following sessions\, we will design and build the sculpture until we end up with a finished piece that will be installed on campus outdoors for the whole community to enjoy.

SUMMARY:Northeast Arc Assistive Technology Expo
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to bring Jeffrey Boucher\, the Assistive Technology Coordinator for the Northeast Arc\, to CTI for an Assistive Technology Expo! This event will be part information session\, part demonstration and part hands-on exploration. The Northeast Arc has an assistive technology lending library program\, located at the Center for Linking Lives at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers\, that allows individuals with disabilities to test and borrow specialized equipment and other technology to increase their independence. We encourage you to attend with your caretaker or parents to try out different assistive technologies that help with independent living and figure out what might be a good fit for you. You will leave with a list of ideas for tools you may want to purchase or borrow from the Lending Library. We will be hosting two expos–one in July and one in September–so feel free to come to both!

All supplies will be provided\, and participants can expect to use all kinds of tools for art making and building\, such as hammers\, nails and paint. It will be a messy process–so dress accordingly–but a ton of fun! No experience required\, and you may choose to come to some or all four sessions in the series. \nAt this fourth and final session\, we will add the finishing touches to our sculpture and start the process of installing it outdoors. The finished piece will be installed on campus outdoors for the whole community to enjoy.
