SUMMARY:Music Exploration: Ukulele
DESCRIPTION:Music Exploration is designed to foster creativity in a positive and supportive social environment. Participants will learn about different styles of music\, try out a variety of instruments\, improvise and make music together. Each session will be different to allow for maximum musical exploration\, but will always focus on creative expression and confidence\, ending with a group sing-along (lyrics will be provided). No prior music experience is necessary. Taught by Cheyenna (Chey) Eagle\, an MT-BC graduate with a degree in Music Therapy with a concentration on oboe. Chey specializes in working with children and adults with multiple disabilities and has taught adapted music lessons with a variety of instruments. She completed the Neurologic Music Therapy training through the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy and is an adapted music teacher at Powers Music School in Belmont. \nThis week\, we will explore a popular instrument: the ukulele! We will learn about its history\, how it is played\, ways people have adapted the instrument and play along with some beloved songs. Other handheld percussion instruments will also be available to use while playing along.

SUMMARY:Transitions Meeting: Get Organized! (hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Parents and caregivers are invited to join Cotting School Family Support and Engagement Coordinator Naomi Zuckerman and CTI Program Manager Erika Cain either in person at CTI or via Zoom for a monthly group meeting centered on resources for transition planning. This is an open group for parents and caregivers to come together for conversations related to their young adult’s transition from school to adult services. \nThis month’s meeting will focus on how to prepare documents that you will need for your loved one. Keeping everything in one place–such as in a big binder–can be helpful since our lives are so busy! Feel free to attend either in person at CTI or online via Zoom to learn about what kinds of documents should be in your binder and how to best organize it for your family.
