SUMMARY:Dance Class: Creative Movement
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and rhythmic dance class focused on creative movement and self expression. Participants will have the opportunity to improvise and show off their own style throughout the class. You do not need to be an experienced dancer of any kind to take this class. We will provide more information on what to bring and what to expect closer to the event date. \nThis class will be taught by Hannah Geller\, an instructor at The Dance Inn in Lexington. Hannah teaches students of all ages and has helped grow the studio’s adaptive dance programming. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Inclusive Education at Lesley University\, and is passionate about a lifetime of learning and spreading the joy and benefits of dance to all.

DESCRIPTION:In this class\, you’ll be led through postures and poses from both a seated chair position and a standing or sitting position. There will be about 60 minutes of stretching and yoga poses and 30 minutes of mindfulness activities\, such as body scans\, meditations\, mindful work using our senses and deep breathing. We will provide the yoga mats\, and no experience is required. \nThis class will be taught by Biliana Angelova\, a therapist\, third generation yoga practitioner and beloved teacher in the Boston yoga community. Biliana is well-versed in adaptive yoga and has contributed to mindfulness research and practice at The Benson-Henry Mind Body Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital\, The Center for Anxiety Studies at Boston University and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She teaches community classes and specialized courses\, leads workshops and retreats and works with individual clients. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Guided Paint Night\, where participants follow along with an instructor to create their own unique piece of artwork. She will provide step-by-step instructions and demonstrations to ensure that everyone completes their painting\, regardless of skill level. The focus is on having fun and expressing oneself creatively\, rather than producing a masterpiece. All supplies–including canvases\, paint\, brushes and aprons to protect your clothing–will be provided. Please dress in clothes that are okay to get paint on them\, just in case. All attendees will leave this event with a beautifully painted canvas. \nThis class will be taught by Aly Robinson\, a former Cotting staff member and former Muse Paint Bar employee. Aly is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and trained art educator with a degree from MassArt. \nThis week\, participants will paint a version of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” that includes pumpkins!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an adaptive dance class featuring two dance styles\, jazz and ballet. Participants will learn the fundamentals\, develop some technical skills and have fun learning choreography. You do not need to be an experienced dancer of any kind to take this class. We will provide more information on what to bring and what to expect closer to the event date. \nThis class will be taught by Hannah Geller\, an instructor at The Dance Inn in Lexington. Hannah teaches students of all ages and has helped grow the studio’s adaptive dance programming. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Inclusive Education at Lesley University\, and is passionate about a lifetime of learning and spreading the joy and benefits of dance to all.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by baking festive treats inspired by this traditional Mexican holiday. Participants will work together to prepare a delicious recipe while learning about the holiday’s rich cultural traditions and symbols. In addition to practicing kitchen skills\, teamwork and creativity in a fun and welcoming environment\, everyone will enjoy sampling their creations and take home any leftovers to share. No previous baking experience necessary. You will leave with a recipe packet and informaton about the holiday. SUMMARY:Pottery Class: Rock and Paddle Pinch Pots (Part 1)
DESCRIPTION:This is a two-part series\, so participants must pay up front for both sessions (taking place on November 2 and November 9). To register for the full series\, please select one of the ticket options below. \nLearn to make bowls in the ancient rock and paddle style of Peru and beyond. We’ll build a strong\, thin-walled bowl (perfect for holding cereal or popcorn) at the first session and paint it with glazes at the second session. \nThis class will be taught by artist and educator Julie Nussbaum. Julie has a diploma in fine arts\, is certified to teach K-12 and has worked with people of all ages and abilities.

DESCRIPTION:Daily Living Skills is designed to support the development of the capabilities needed for independent living. The curriculum strengthens transition skills and executive functioning\, including decision making and the ability to organize the steps and sequences needed to complete various tasks. Participants will learn essential travel skills\, including reading schedules\, using a Rideshare App\, planning routes\, purchasing fares\, recognizing landmarks and bus stops\, practicing safe pedestrian skills and responding to unexpected situations in a hands-on\, adapted setting. The lesson will be tailored to participants’ individual learning styles\, abilities and travel preferences. \nThis class will be taught by CTI Program Manager Erika Cain.
