SUMMARY:Creative Arts: Tie Dye Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tie dying class in the CTI garden! We encourage upcycling and reusing\, so please try to bring something white that you already own that might be stained or not in perfect condition anymore. We will help you give that item (e.g.\, shirt\, pillow case\, pair of socks) a second life through the use of tie dye. You will learn different techniques for how to roll it into various patterns. All supplies will be provided\, although we encourage you to bring your own old or stained white items to dye. While we will be supplying aprons\, we recommend you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting messy in.

SUMMARY:Guided Paint Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Guided Paint Night where participants follow along with an art instructor to create their own unique piece of artwork. Taught by Aly Robinson\, a former Cotting staff member and former Muse Paint Bar employee. Aly is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and trained art educator with a degree from MassArt. She will provide step-by-step instructions and demonstrations to ensure that everyone completes their painting\, regardless of skill level. The focus is on having fun and expressing oneself creatively\, rather than producing a masterpiece. All supplies–including canvases\, paint\, brushes and aprons to protect your clothing–will be provided. Please dress in clothes that are okay to get paint on them\, just in case. All attendees will leave this event with a beautifully painted canvas.

SUMMARY:Sculpture Creation
DESCRIPTION:Join Cotting School Visual Arts Teacher Bill Ironfield for a four-part series of classes to design and build a 3D sculpture together that will live on Cotting campus! The sculpture will be made out of materials like wood\, paper mache and industrial cardboard. All supplies will be provided\, and participants can expect to use all kinds of tools for art making and building\, such as hammers\, nails and paint. It will be a messy process–so dress accordingly–but a ton of fun! No experience required\, and you may choose to come to some or all four sessions in the series. \nAt this first session\, we will sit down as a group and draw up some sketches of what our sculpture could look like. We will try to incorporate the concepts of community\, inclusion and disability into our sculpture. In the following sessions\, we will design and build the sculpture until we end up with a finished piece that will be installed on campus outdoors for the whole community to enjoy.
