We’ll practice techniques such as dicing\, peeling and how to use a stove\, find ways to adapt the kitchen to meet individual needs and help you find the tools and equipment that work best for you. The price of the ticket includes a wonderful meal\, a helpful cooking guide and a recipe card to take home to your family. If you would like to attend\, please add your name to the waitlist and we will let you know closer to the date if a spot opens up. \nTo celebrate September as National Hispanic Heritage Month\, we are hosting a cooking class inspired by the Hispanic culture and dishes! You will learn about various Hispanic countries\, their culture–including language and history–and their delicious cuisine as we create a meal together and work on our independent cooking skills. Ticket price includes a wonderful mea\, a recipe card to take home to your family and educational materials. We will reach out to you before the event to discuss allergies and preferences in order to pick recipes that everyone will enjoy.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating Rosh Hashanah\, the Jewish New Year! We’ll learn about the Jewish calendar and traditional ways to celebrate this holiday\, such as eating apples and honey to ensure a sweet new year. We will be enjoying a lunch together\, with all the traditional foods one would enjoy for Rosh Hashanah. We will be playing Rosh Hashanah themed games\, doing art projects and learning about the background of the holiday and how folks celebrate it in the Jewish faith. We might watch a few video clips of how Rosh Hashanah has been displayed in various TV shows\, and we will talk about the importance of this holiday and all that it represents.

The curriculum strengthens executive functioning\, including decision making and the ability to organize the steps and sequences needed to complete various tasks. This program will be led by CTI Program Manager Erika Cain\, who has 10 years of special education teaching experience\, including four years specifically teaching transition skills. This series will focus on financial literacy\, covering topics like budgeting\, purchasing\, estimating when setting up a budget\, money management\, safety skills\, online banking and much more.
