Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® / SMYLE™-Inspired
In this four-class series, yoga teacher Lynn Stoller will offer a gentle, accessible form of Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® designed to support self-regulation, relaxation, body awareness and emotional wellbeing. The classes will incorporate modified practices and supportive visual materials inspired by the SMYLE™ (Sensory and Mindfulness-based Yoga for Learning Environments™) program, co-created with former Cotting special educator Meg Hennessey Schofield. Practices may include breathing exercises, mindful movement, adaptable yoga forms, relaxation techniques (including guided meditation) and sensory-based strategies designed to help participants feel calm, focused and empowered. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Practices will be adapted to support a wide range of abilities and comfort levels.
Lynn Stoller, MS, OTR, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, is the founding president of the Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® Institute and a retired occupational therapist who worked at Cotting School for 36 years. Throughout her career, she often incorporated yoga and sensory-based strategies into her work with students experiencing sensory processing challenges, ADHD, anxiety and related difficulties.
